The 30 Day Experiment
Mounica Veggalam · engineer-turned-life-and-leadership-coach

You want to build something new in your life. And thinking harder about it isn't getting you there.

You've been wanting to bring change into your life and work, and you're ambitious, so you might be thinking of a new job, starting a side-hustle, community, consulting business, moving to a new city or country, even dating.

But even though you've thought about it (a lot), you haven't made meaningful progress.

Start the 30-day Experiment

The 30-day Experiment is a one-month coaching partnership to run experiments to try out your ideas, collect real data, and get clarity about what you really want to build next.

Build your next year for freedom, joy and meaning.

sound familiar?

You have an idea, or ten, or twenty, but with each one you find a problem.

It won't work. It won't pay what you need it to. It will take too much time away from your family. There's too much of a runway required and too few resources. You tried something similar before and it was a disaster.

You convince yourself it's a bad idea and settle back down into your current life. You've been restless for months, or years.

If only you had someone to assure you that you'll be successful in the path ahead of you, you'd take it. It's not that you haven't tried to research things out. You did.

But, here's what is missing from that: You're not working with actual data, you're forming predictions of failure. Advisors, mentors or family members and even AI might even be confirming your worst fears. What you're really working with is the fear of the unknown.

For very logical, analytical people, we tend to try to avoid failure at all costs by predicting all the ways something could go wrong.

We try to know what we don't know yet by asking mentors, advisors or even AI. This doesn't work because their insights don't perfectly apply to your life.

Your life is unique with many variables and others can only offer generic solutions about what worked for them.

You can see this when you get off a call with a mentor and part of you feels capable, confident and excited and the other half is a bit unsure– of your value and if it's all going to work out and if your other commitments will take a hit.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Here's what I have observed with entrepreneurs, professionals and leaders:

The big changes we want to make in life only happen when we deeply understand and change our internal thought-structures first, and learn how to use our feelings as a compass to take steps even when we can't predict the outcome.

The 30-day Experiment is a container for all that.

Then progress becomes exponential, and instead of taking incremental steps, you start making leaps.

I'm Mounica, and my specialty is helping analytical folks make the kinds of big changes that set their lives on entirely different trajectories, whether that's building a new business or new income stream, building a body of creative work, taking on large leadership projects that lead to promotion, or even finding a romantic partner.

My foundations come from— training and professional practice across coaching and human behavior with more than 450 hours of facilitation experience with professionals, leaders and entrepreneurs.

I also study meditation and spiritual paths because I believe the inner-work provides the expansion to pursue our outer expression in our work, relationships and personal life.

I've worked as an engineer in Microsoft and hold a masters degree in computer science.

My work comes from formal education, lived experience of running my solo business and years of seeing what holds up in real life. The biggest changes in my life happened by building and jumping into the unknown, especially through the work I did with my coach who challenged my thought-structures and my relationship with various feelings that come with entrepreneurship.

the method and why it works

Your mentors, advisors and custom GPTs can't get you there.

You've mastered executing in the known and they provide advice to do what you already know or can learn how to do, which your brain will catalogue within the old frame. But the unknown needs a different set of muscles.

And the biggest muscle you need to build is this: learning to use your feelings to understand yourself and read them as the signals they are. That allows you to bring out your intuition, creativity and the capacity to handle anything.

When you're doing work you already know how to do, feelings stay out of the way. There's a plan, a playbook, a next step. But the thing you want now has no playbook — it lives in the unknown. And in the unknown, the feelings show up first and they show up loud.

Fear, the moment it starts to get real. Doubt, after the first stall. Guilt, about the time it takes from the people you love. Maybe even a flash of jealousy, watching someone else ship their big idea.

That's why you feel the same after taking courses and workshops. That's why you feel restless even after applying the Radical Candor and Atomic Habit frameworks.

Nobody taught us to read these signals — so when they get loud, we retreat to what we know: more thinking, more planning, more effort inside the old frame.

Which leads to slow, incremental, and incredibly frustrating "progress."

This is the work I've gone deepest on — in my own life first, and then for years with clients: staying with the feelings that show up while you build something new, and reading them instead of obeying them or shoving them down.

I call the method Creating in the Unknown.

the process

The Process: How the big change becomes real

When you want to make big changes, you could get stalled out because of 3 big problems:

1 Problem #1

You feel conflicted–

one half of you feels capable, confident and excited about something new and the other half feels unsure if it's going to work out because of past experiences and what you have heard from mentors and advisors. You're not even sure if this is something you actually want to spend time building.

In my experience, the feeling of conflict comes up when you have unconscious predictions of what will happen if you take the risk of building something new. All of your fears come to the surface, every negative opinion you've heard rises up, and you talk yourself out of it.

In our work together, we start with looking at the limitations that are grounded in real data versus the ones you're assuming. This allows you to become more objective about the level of risk, and from there we can plan for how to handle the real risks. You'll be able to consciously choose what you want to do, rather than allowing assumptions and unconscious predictions to lead.

This is where we start to make small experiments. I'll assign you a tiny action, you try it, and reflect on the result. The goal is to learn more about what you really want by, occasionally, bumping up against what you don't want.

We're going to support you with:

  • A daily short coaching brief with a frame, a prompt, or a tiny experiment for that day.
  • Three private 1:1 coaching sessions over Zoom to catch your blindspots and crystallize what you want to build next.
  • Worksheets and meditations for the days to work through when feelings like fear, doubt, guilt, show up loud.

At the end of this series of tiny experiments, you will have a solid idea of what you want with enough data to be able to commit to it.

One month to run tiny experiments and make your goals more real, bigger and more aligned to you.

$1800 Investment

Coaching partnership for a year is $28,000 USD, about $2,400 a month. The 30 Day Experiment is the starting point at a reduced rate for you to dive deep into a new way of building and experiencing the work.

Start with The 30 Day Experiment.

What you come up with in the 30 Day Experiment will be larger than your life can currently hold, which means… The next step is making space for it.

2 Problem #2

Your life is full of commitments already, and finding time and energy for a big new project feels overwhelming.

To help you make space to create your ambitious goal—and a second lifestyle goal—I offer a 3-month package of 3 coaching sessions per month. This is to help you hold yourself accountable to building your idea, while sustaining an enjoyable lifestyle, so you practice holding both together and avoid burnout.

In our coaching sessions, I will support you in:

  • Analyzing how your current environment and life are organized, and creating new structures to hold your plan
  • Making bold steps and big asks that require building courage
  • Identifying where you need to invest in other kinds of support, knowledge, or skillbuilding

In three months, you'll have made real progress without sacrificing every weekend, and you just might meet a new version of yourself.

You can enroll in this stage for $7000 USD. We'll support you to work on goals that give you 3 times the ROI. But, before we jump into this, I recommend starting with the 30 day experiment because that provides the foundation for this work.

3 Problem #3

When you start making real progress in building something new, the variables start shifting and YOU start changing.

The linear path you outlined takes a left turn. At this stage, it's easy to collapse back into your old patterns instead of updating your mental model according to the new data. This is the final challenge of long-term change.

Now, you're playing a larger game than your old life (and your old default patterns) can hold. This is where inner resistance rises and failure becomes a real possibility, because you'll feel like this change isn't aligned. At this stage, you need the support of an objective guide to gently question your world view. I witness your journey, I understand where you've come from and where you're trying to go, and I challenge you to push past the discomfort (especially when it feels like The Truth!) to finally achieve your vision.

At first, living inside this big change feels like you're doing something wrong. But when you give it time, you'll find more joy, freedom, and expression in this more expansive life.

To support this stage, I offer:

  • 9-12 month coaching package
  • 3 private 1:1 sessions per month over Zoom
  • Access to me in between sessions—you're not paying for a set of calls at this stage, you're paying to have me completely in your corner, committed to you actually doing this

The investment for this stage ranges from $18000 USD to $28000 USD based on what you're working on and the time-frame of support you need. Even here, I recommend starting with The 30-day experiment to crystallize everything you want to build next.

We start with 1 month to run experiments to try out your ideas, collect real data, and get clarity about what you really want to build next.

Start with The 30 Day Experiment.

A 30-day deep dive to help you build your next year for freedom, joy and happiness.

The full coaching partnership is a year. Start with a month of listening to yourself to uncover what you actually want that's better, bigger and bolder than your current goals.

is this you?

Who is this for?

This can be good for:

  • Analytical folks: You work in tech, finance or adjacent industries that demand knowledge work. You have passion to explore your potential and brilliance beyond what you've achieved till now through solving hard problems.
  • Spiritually centered folks: You have some history with meditation paths, non-traditional paths that explore teachings of consciousness and human mind or some sense of connection to something larger than yourself.

You're someone who wants to:

Build a consulting business, community or new income stream Start a side-hustle Build a body of creative work Create impactful leadership projects that lead to a promotion Find a romantic partner after a series of mis-aligned relationships Move to a new city or country Exit their founding position at their startup and build the next one Find a new job in a competitive or niche industry Write a book
  • You're holding two feelings at once — still capable, still valued, and conflicted about potential burnout, failure or boredom if you pursue something new.
  • Your role or industry is shifting under you, and instead of only asking "how do I keep up?" a second question has appeared: "what do I actually want to build?"
  • You already have an inclination toward inner work, and you can feel that incremental change is no longer enough.
  • You're open to some discomfort and willing to share openly in our 1:1 conversations.

This is not for you if:

  • Work and life is genuinely thrilling right now and the current path feels like yours. Enjoy it — you don't need this yet.
  • You mainly want how-tos and strategy. I'm not the tactics coach. In stage 2, I help people find the right support to get the strategic and tactical help. Without the stage 1 of inner-exploration, you might end up paying money for consultants whom you don't align with (I certainly did!). My newsletter is a better way for us to stay in touch than a coaching month you don't need.
  • You're in an intensely traumatic period, or actively working with depression or other mental-health concerns. Then I'd want you with a psychiatrist or therapist first — this work can sit alongside that, not replace it.
  • Most of your energy right now is going to how unfair it's all been. That anger might be completely fair. But this work asks you to look at what you want next, and I'd be the wrong room until some of that has settled.
  • You don't have any inclination towards meditation or inner-work. You're not going to have a good time with this.

The point of all this: I'd rather tell you "not this, not yet" than take a month of your money for the wrong thing. If you're not sure which list you're on, message me anyway — we'll figure it out together in one honest conversation. It costs nothing, and it isn't a sales trap.

before you count yourself out

Most people at this stuck point assume they need more clarity before they're ready for something like this — "let me figure out what I want first, then I'll get help." That's backwards: finding the want is the work. So let me make this super-clear.

You're a good candidate for the month if you tend:

  • To be the one who delivers. People count on you at work and at home, and you keep coming through — even when you're tired of being the reliable one. (That's a real accomplishment, by the way. It's also the pattern we'll be working with.)
  • To have a "someday" thing that keeps coming back — a business, a book, a different way of leading or living. You've maybe even started it once or twice. Notice: it's the stopping that repeats, never the wanting.
  • To have already tried working on yourself — books, meditation, courses, maybe therapy. You're not looking for your first tool. And you're feeling that they're giving you incremental progress that's not enough any more.
  • To notice the feelings getting loud whenever the new thing starts getting real — the 3 a.m. planning spiral, the guilt about your kids or partner, the jab of watching someone else ship their version of it. If you flinched at one of those just now, that's the clearest signal on this list.

In short: your life works — and you can feel that it isn't quite the life. You're not broken, and you're not starting from zero. The want is already there. It's just never been let all the way in, and nobody taught you what to do with the feelings guarding the door.

Where to go from here

If you recognized yourself above — or you're somewhere between the two lists — the next step is a conversation. We'll talk about what you're sensing, whether the fit is real in both directions, and whether starting with the month makes sense for you. No pressure to decide on the call.

FAQs

"I'm so burnt out. Is this for me?"

It is if you have some energy to slow down, examine internally and take some action that energizes you, that feels like play.

"I don't have the energy for one more thing."

Right — and that's exactly why the month is built the way it is. It adds one conversation you were going to have anyway and a few minutes with a prompt. People consistently report the month gives energy back, because for the first time in a long time, some of your attention is pointed at what you want instead of what's expected of you.

"Spending money on it scares me."

I hear this often, frequently from people who are careful with money: "I understand it's not throwing money away. There's an investment and it has a return. But it's really hard to convince my brain that this is an investment and not stash money for in case of emergency." That's a real and reasonable hesitation. The first month exists partly for this reason — a smaller, defined commitment, so you can see what the work does before deciding on the rest.

"I'm scared of the firm commitment."

Good. That's worth taking seriously rather than overriding. It's part of why the work starts with thirty days and three sessions instead of asking you to commit to a year on day one.

"Maybe I can just do this myself."

Maybe. Many of the people I work with are highly self-reliant and have genuinely tried. What I'll say is that the thing that's hard here is precisely the part you can't do from inside your current frame, and that's the part a real partner is for. There's a difference between self-reliance and sovereignty, and this work is aimed at the second one.

"I feel good about this when we talk, then the doubt comes back later."

This is honest and common. In conversation it feels clear, and then off the call, fear takes over and the mind offers its exits: maybe I don't need this now, maybe I can do it myself, maybe later. I'd just name that the fear is part of the pattern we'd be working with, not a verdict on whether the work is right for you. Notice it, sit with it, and decide from somewhere steadier than the fear.
